Following a hugely successful 2018/19 tournament, which saw the inclusion of girls teams for the very first time, the series is back and continues to grow in stature.

This year, the Dyson Sevens will follow the RFU’s newly approved XRugby7s format, meaning it’s faster and more action-packed than ever before.

24 teams, including eight U15 girls and 16 U14 boys, will compete across separate preliminary tournaments to qualify for the prestigious Finals Day.

Taking place at the Rec on Saturday 28^th March 2020, the preliminary tournament will have all the excitement that you would expect from a Sevens event, with skills clinics, the kick-pass challenge, great food and appearances by senior Bath Rugby players.

Teams will fight it out to secure a place in Finals Day, which will take place at half-time of Bath Rugby’s last home game of the 2019/20 season against Gloucester, in front of 14,500 supporters. All finalists will receive a match ticket courtesy of Dyson to get behind the Blue, Black and White.

To add to the excitement, all registered teams will also be entered into a ballot to receive a free Sevens masterclass from England Sevens players Ruaridh McConnochie and Chris Cook as well as Bath Rugby’s Head Analyst, Dan Cooper, who previously led Team GB’s Rugby Sevens analysis.

Bath Rugby winger and Olympic Rugby Sevens silver medalist, Ruaridh McConnochie, commented: “There is a huge abundance of talent at grassroots level and this competition is a fantastic way of recognising that.

"The experiences and memories I have gained from Rugby Sevens will last a lifetime and I know that many taking part in this competition will feel the same.

"Playing at the Rec is an honour and I am certain that the teams will battle hard to win their place on our home turf for the final.”

Rebecca DeNiro, Managing Director GB and Ireland, Dyson, provided context around why the engineering firm is so pleased to once again be delivering this tournament with Bath Rugby, adding: “We are really proud of how this competition has grown over the past five years. The inclusion of girls last year was a real highlight and we hope to continue to build the importance of this tournament in the grassroots calendar for both girls and boys.

"The experiences that these young people have together will not only help them grow as young people but also inspire them to go on and try many more new things.
