Returning to rugby for the first time in 2023, Bath took on Chiefs in Round 4 of the Premiership Rugby Academy League.

Kacey Pike (3), Henry Bartlett and replacement Henry Bonetti (2) contributed to Bath's six try win in a dominant display over their West Country hosts.

From a beautifully delivered 50:22 kick by Millfield's Ieuan Davies in the opening minutes, Bath's first score came from Beechen Cliff's Pike from the back of an unstoppable maul.

The hosts bit back with an unconverted score of their own, but it wasn't long before Pike was at it again from another well-driven maul to crash over for his second.

Snatching a hat-trick before the half hour mark, Pike took Bath to a 21-5 lead with three maul tries.

Exeter put another seven on their total but there efforts were cancelled out as Bartlett crossed the whitewash shortly after.

With Raff Weston scoring three out of four conversions, Bath sat 26-12 ahead at the break.

Coming of the bench and making an impact, Bonetti proved Bath unstoppable at the maul with another set-piece try as the game entered the final quarter.

No to be down beat, Exeter managed to break through the Bath defence and closed the deficit to 12 points, adding a converted try to the scoresheet.

The Blue, Black and White scored their final try through the hands of Bonetti once again after he launched the ball into a stable line-out. The pack joined in the efforts charging Bonetti over the line for another five points.

Bath showed their intent from the start, with the forwards putting in a big shift and mastering the set-piece.

Up next is London Irish away at Hazelwood this coming Saturday (14 January) in Round 5 of the Academy League.

The team will then take on Harlequins at the home of Bath Rugby, The Rec, on Saturday 21 January.
