Underhill expressed his delight with extending his stay at Bath Rugby, the England star said: “I am delighted to have re-signed with the Club. I am excited for my future with Bath Rugby. It’s a Club that has a lot of potential. It has been a new set up this year, but I have been impressed by how everything is gelling together so far.

“We have a very young squad with huge potential, and we have a long way to go but that is something to look forward to and I very much want to be a part of it. We have a young pack and some really promising youngsters coming through the pathway and added to that a bit of experience and I think it’s a good blend in the squad.

“In terms of coaching staff, I think Neal Hatley has been brilliant since returning to the Club after England duty, Stuart Hooper has been leading really well from the front and all round as a squad and as a Club we are heading in the right direction.”

Upon signing his new deal, the 2019 World Cup finalist revealed his reasoning for staying in the West Country and what he wants to achieve in the famed Blue, Black and White jersey.

Underhill continued: “I want to be a part of something special with Bath Rugby. I want to help the side realise our potential because it is all well and good talking about having a promising young squad, but you have actually got to realise that potential for it to mean anything.

“For myself, if I am playing well for the Club then that ties in well with everything, I want to do so I really would like to play well for the Club and do my role well. I want to contribute whatever I can to the side, ultimately with the aim to win the Premiership, winning the European Cup and winning regularly, allowing us to be in a good position for the playoffs each year.

“I want to help get the side to a place where we are playing consistently and helping the Club in whatever role I can to play consistently well and that’s all I want to achieve. That may come with winning trophies, but it may not, so I just want to be able to realise that potential that I have and whatever the Club has too.”
