At 6ft 6 and 120kg, the 32-year-old will form part of a powerful tight-five contingent joining the likes of world-class Rugby World Cup-winning prop Thomas du Toit and the retention of England internationals such as Tom Dunn, Charlie Ewels, Beno Obano, Josh McNally and Will Stuart.

Roux has shown his physical attributes during the 2022/23 season which has been restricted to nine appearances because of injury.

Working hard with Head of Medical Services Rory Murray to return to full fitness for pre-season this summer, the lock is determined to contribute to the development of the squad in the Premiership and Europe.

Roux said: “I am very excited to be extending my stay with Bath Rugby. Playing at a sold-out Rec is one of the top experiences I’ve had as a player thus far.

“Johann has a clear vision for the club, and I believe we will continue to grow as a squad and build towards delivering the performances and results that our incredible supporters deserve.

“I’m looking forward to playing my part.”

Previous to his time at The Rec, Roux won the 2012 Vodacom Cup with Western Province and earned Super Rugby caps for the Stormers before switching to Leinster for two seasons.

His time in Dublin began a seven-year stint in Irish rugby mostly spent in Galway at Connacht where he made over 100 provincial appearances and appeared 16 times for Ireland.

He moved to RC Toulon and appeared on 14 occasions for the Top 14 outfit in his debut campaign before linking up with Bath.

Head of Rugby Johann van Graan added: “Quinn is an influential character in our squad, on and off the field.

“He has embraced being a part of the club and he offers great power, leadership and experience to our tight-five options.

“The best is yet to come for Quinn in a Blue, Black and White jersey.”
