The result meant Bath Rugby finished 13th in the Gallagher Premiership after a torrid campaign.

"This genuinely hurts the most," he said.

"There's been a little bit of a common theme. As a group, we haven't learnt quickly enough and we haven't learnt hard enough.

"To lose the game when we were in such control is really hard (to take). One or two of the players talked about not wanting to be in that circle again, having those same conversations again.

"You can't keep saying 'we're going to learn... we're going to improve'. We had an opportunity to bury them at certain points and we didn't. We've had those conversations too many times; we had it after Northampton, after Sale away in the first game, Bristol away... if you have any ambitions you can't keep having those same conversations."
