On feeling in the camp…

Obviously winning the way we did against Leicester was a decent boost; there was a good feeling after the game. The thing about those games is the feeling at the end of it probably overrides a lot of things and that’s good as you get to feel what it is like to win those type of games but the unpicking of the games in the week highlights areas to work on and that’s certainly what it has done for us.

It doesn’t take anything away from the victory but there has been a good few areas of detail we’ve been brushing up on. We do measure our performance, but ultimately wins are what we are after. As much as we enjoy them, we don’t use them to paper over any problems we had or that we missed.

On pursuit of the Top 4…

It’s quite exciting and very much like that (knockout rugby); It adds a dimension to fixtures. Week to week, as it always is with this group, they are very good at that focus of going into the weekend which is great.

It’s knockout rugby for us in Europe but the Premiership does have that feel to it. It’s not too dissimilar to the backend last year if I’m honest, it’s just a lot more spread out now with games coming weekly as opposed to twice a week. It’s going to be challenging for sure but it’s something that is in our control which is the best thing.

They are big games of rugby. There are still six Premiership games to go, plus the two play-off games so there is still a decent amount of rugby to go. The way we chunk it down is go week to week and make an emphasis on the change of competition as well.

On having fans back at the Rec soon…

My view on a supporter coming into a stadium has changed massively; they are actually a massive part of the team. They don’t get that opportunity to go out on the field at the weekend so they move firmly away from a commercial, transactional person in the stadium to genuinely part of what we are trying to do.

How does that marry with attacking, exciting rugby? We want them to be a part of it; we want them to enjoy what we’re doing but equally they want to come and watch rugby that is entertaining and winning. Part of it is about educating our supporters on what it is we want to do, what role we see them playing in that and then when they come to the games they will enjoy us scoring four tries, but equally they will enjoy us maybe mauling the ball over the line a couple of times or having a huge defensive set to keep the opposition out.

For me, it has moved away from the transactional, come to the stadium and pay your money, more towards ‘wow, these guys are actually a genuine part of our team and what we want to achieve’.

On a potential 150 for Tom Dunn…

Tom is 100% committed to who is next to him… to his teammates. He is an absolute diamond example of someone who had a dream, has a dream and has chased it as hard as a he possibly can and will continue to chase it as hard as he possibly can.
