The 22-year-old returns to the starting XV for Saturday’s trip to local rivals Gloucester, after four months out, and now the powerful centre is ready to help Bath finish the season strongly.

“I can’t wait to get back onto the pitch,” he admitted. “It’s been a tough season for me personally. I started off really well but then I suffered two injuries which caught me off guard.

“It’s been a long road back to full fitness but I’m now looking forward to putting the Bath shirt on again, and there’s no better comeback match than a derby game against Gloucester.”

Clark has featured for Bath United in recent weeks, but is now looking to make an impact in the first team for the final two games of the season.

“I want to come back and find the form I was in before I got injured. I felt a little rusty, but that’s what the United games were for, and now I can start to repay the faith shown in me by Todd (Blackadder) and the rest of the team.”

The centre acknowledges that Saturday’s West Country derby at Kingsholm will prove a stern test, but is confident the team will put in a confident performance against the Cherry and Whites, before finishing the season at the Rec against London Irish on 5th May.

“Gloucester have been an exciting side to watch this season. They run the ball from anywhere on the pitch and their confidence is up, but we can get a lot out of these final two matches that will bring the team a lot of confidence going into next season.

“Saturday is a derby match and we are all fired up and ready to put in a good display.

“We can then use that as fuel ahead of London Irish at the Rec. It’s our last home game and we want to entertain the fans, put on a show and end on a high.”
