Having been sidelined from playing duties after picking up a season-ending injury, Muir has been keen to stay busy and use his abilities as a professional player and influential person for the better.

Reaching out to Lynne Fernquest, Chief Executive of Bath Rugby Foundation, he soon became the face to launch the charity's monthly giving campaign, Lose the Labels.

The campaign aims to tear off negative labels often given to challenged and vulnerable young people and replace them with positive ones to empower individuals and promote self-worth. For example, from rejected to supported, hopeless to hopeful, limited to limitless.

After dedicating our round 17 Premiership fixture against London Irish to Bath Rugby Foundation, the day was used to launch the campaign at was known as Foundation Day.

Grasping the opportunity with both hands, in the lead up to Foundation Day, Muir joined one of the Foundation's Hi5! sessions alongside Foundation coaches to join in with the participants as they took part in dance and fitness.

Hi5! is a programme designed specifically for young people with special educational needs and disabilities and encourages social interactions and fitness.

Muir's interactivity and carefree involvement was such a refreshing sight, especially as it was very much out of his comfort zone.

Using his friendly and talkative nature, Muir lead by example as he joined coaches Lana and Dan who led the session. This video captures Will’s time at Hi5!

On Foundation Day, Muir took it upon himself to become the social media face for the day, encouraging supporters at the game and our audiences across our channels to donate to the Foundation.

Leading by example, he also brought down fellow players Wesley White and Alfie Barbeary to interact with fans out in the fan village and promote the Foundation’s cause.

Muir has done community work for other charities in our area, including taking part in a charity go-karting event in aid of Wooden Spoon, the children’s rugby charity.

Taking to the track with a team of Bath Rugby players to compete against Bristol Bears, Wooden Spoon and other rugby clubs and businesses, Muir was a standout participant for his personality alone.

Most recently, Muir used his history of playing for England 7s to attend and present at Bath Rugby Sevens tournament, a grassroots event featuring both boys and girls’ clubs from the wider Bath region.

Muir was there to congratulate the teams on their brilliant achievement of making it through to the final stages of the tournament and presented the trophy to the winning teams on the day, giving them memories that will last a lifetime.

His impact from being an active part of the Bath Rugby Foundation and wider community has influenced other players to become involved in the Foundation's work and helping those less fortunate.

Of Muir's work with Bath Rugby Foundation, Chief Executive Fernquest said: “I was delighted when Will reached out to offer his support to the Foundation. His contribution as a much-respected player in the city is priceless and raises the profile of the charity, however what is most important about Will’s contribution is the care and kindness he has brought to his role.

"He’s not just a great player, but a great human too. From the start he was keen to understand why a charity for disadvantaged children is needed in a city that appears affluent on the surface, but beneath that surface is one of the most unequal in the UK.”

Muir has been shortlisted alongside three others, including Joe Joyce of Bristol Bears, Sean Maitland of Saracens and Hugh O'Sullivan of London Irish.
