The second half proved a trickier affair as Worcester came into the contest and earned a try bonus point, but the job had already been done in terms of the overall result.

Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper spoke of a consistent 80-minute display ahead of the trip to Newcastle Falcons – which he got in the North East – and relayed that message post Round 14.

Heading into Round 15, Bath face a London Irish side who have been in mixed form of late.

Since the postponement of the European fixtures in January, Declan Kidney’s men have played eight times in the Premiership, winning four, drawing one and losing three.

Two defeats have come in their last three outings – being narrowly edged out on the road at the start of the month before a heavy loss to Sale Sharks last weekend.

Despite their current form, Irish are dangerous at home and have yet to lose at the Brentford Community Stadium since moving there at the start of 2020/21 campaign.

Bath’s record against London Irish is also impressive, winning their last dozen contests with the Exiles in Gallagher Premiership since the Exiles 29-22 victory at Madejski Stadium in September 2012.

Bath scored five first-half tries to thrash London Irish and overtake them in the Premiership table.

Prop Beno Obano breached the Exiles’ defensive line from close range to open the scoring before fellow England international Anthony Watson hacked on an overthrown Irish line-out, showed electric speed and slid in to score.

At 12-0, Stephen Myler kicked a penalty for Irish but Bath exploited space on the outside shortly after. Jonathan Joseph got the better of his opposite number and found Tom Homer who sent Semesa Rokoduguni into the corner for his 50^th Prem try.

A penalty try was awarded to Bath in the 27^th minute and a beautiful phase of Barbarian-style rugby put Will Chudley over before the interval.

Try number six was the best of the bunch for Bath. Homer capitalised on Myler’s crosskick, collecting before sprinting in from his own 22 with superb pace.

Adam Coleman scored a late consolation for the hosts in the last head-to-head between the two sides at the Madejski.
