Ollie Lawrence has been nominated for the 2022/23 Gallagher Premiership Player of the Season.

The centre has been a revelation since joining Bath Rugby from Worcester Warriors earlier this season, making 11 league appearances for the club, scoring four tries.

In his time in Blue, Black and White, Lawrence has beaten 52 Premiership defenders and made 16 clean breaks. He has shown a superb offloading game (11), chipping in with three try assists, and has also been solid defensively too.

The 23-year-old has 11 turnovers to his name and has an 89% tackle completion rate from outside centre.

His form led to him being voted Bath Rugby Supporters’ Player of the Season and he was also voted Premiership Player of the Month for November.

A worthy nominee, Lawrence is shortlisted alongside Leicester Tigers’ Jasper Wiese, Saracens and England captain Owen Farrell and Rob du Preez of Sale Sharks.

BBC Rugby Union Correspondent Chris Jones was among the seven-person judging panel, and said:“To select four players for the Gallagher Player of the Season was tough – there have been plenty of top performers in many different ways.

“Ollie’s story this season is a remarkable one. After the unfortunate developments at Worcester, Ollie kicked on to another level when he joined Bath and carried that form into the international arena for England. He has shown consistency, dynamism and resilience throughout the campaign.

“It is a very strong shortlist, with some quality players unfortunate to miss out, and we look forward to seeing the winner crowned at the Premiership Rugby Awards in London on May 10.”

The shortlist and winner was voted for by a panel of media professionals.

The judges were: Ali Eykyn (BT Sport), Jill Douglas (BBC/BT Sport), Craig Swayne (The Good, The Bad & The Rugby), Tom Hamilton (ESPN), Hugh Godwin (i), Alex Lowe (The Times), Chris Jones (BBC 5 Live).
