Ollie Lawrence has been awarded the Gallagher Premiership Player of the Season for his stellar performances for Bath Rugby in 2022/23.

The centre has been a revelation since joining Bath from Worcester Warriors earlier this season, making 12 league appearances for the club, scoring five tries – four of which have come in his last five games. Before arriving at The Rec, he had already crossed once in three games for Worcester.

The fifth of his Bath scores was on the final day of the season against Saracens which saw him race 40 metres to the line, securing the Blue, Black and White Heineken Champions Cup rugby for the 2023/24 campaign.

Lawrence has hit up an instant rapport with the Bath fans and his form was seen him voted the Supporters’ Player of the Season at the End of Season Awards. He now adds the prestigious Premiership crown to his name.

The 23-year-old has also been named at outside centre in the BT Sport Dream Team.

One of the reasons he is so lauded is ability to beat defenders in seemingly nonchalant fashion and a keen eye for a clean break. Fifty-five players have seen the back of his shirt as he has buzzed past them ball in hand with many others dazzled by his offloading ability.

In defence, Lawrence has been solid too, with 11 turnovers to his name and an 89% tackle completion rate.

Lawrence’s performances in a Bath shirt earned him an England recall during the Guinness Six Nations where he played a starring role in Steve Borthwick’s first campaign.
