The Irish province had a near collective 2,000 club appearances in their 23 with a further 500-plus Test matches and they scored two early tries through Jamison Gibson-Park and Tadgh Furlong.

Orlando Bailey, who was an impressive young man in the Bath backline, kicked a penalty either side of the tries but Leinster extended their advantage in the first half via James Lowe and Hugo Keenan scores.

Stuart Hooper’s side did manage to reduce the deficit before half-time. A clever set-piece move saw Josh Bayliss peel away from a line-out maul to the blindside and his pass released Jacques du Toit on a sprint up the touchline. The hooker barrelled over Jordan Larmour to touch down in the corner.

In the second half, Ronan Kelleher and Josh van der Flier added further tries and Ross Byrne kicked five conversions to complete the Leinster scoring.

Bath did have the final say in the match. In the closing stages, wing Gabriel Hamer-Webb danced his way under the sticks for a brilliant consolation.
