After a hugely successful 2018/19 tournament, which saw the inclusion of girls teams for the very first time, the series is back and continues to grow in stature as an inclusive grassroots competition.

The tournament will continue to provide a valuable platform for clubs across Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset to come together, participating in a COVID secure event for the first time since the pandemic began.

The tournament will carry on from the 18/19 event with 24 teams, including eight Under-15s girls teams and 16 Under-14s boys teams, respectively.

Preliminary rounds will determine the four qualifying teams who will progress to the Finals day on 5 June at the Rec. Families will be able to attend, watching from the Dyson Stand with social distancing measures in place.

Reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to provide playing opportunities across the catchment area, this year’s event will see the preliminary stages held at two community clubs: Royal Wootton Bassett RFC and North Dorset RFC.

Clare Dunbar, Managing Director, Dyson Great Britain & Ireland provided context around why the engineering and technology firm is excited to be sponsoring the tournament again:

"This year, to further promote inclusion and diversity within both sport and engineering, we will be launching our TRY Engineering programme in partnership with Bath Rugby. The initiative attempts to break through the barriers and challenge the gender stereotypes which lead to female underrepresentation in engineering and rugby. The classes have been designed by Dyson’s leading engineers and will be delivered by Bath Rugby’s Community Coaches - young women will discover the exciting opportunities engineering has to offer in the classroom, whilst experiencing the exhilaration of touch rugby out on the field.
