The former club captain proudly wore the Blue, Black and White jersey 277 times over a 14-year senior career, captaining the club from 1993 to 1995 and appearing in five winning Cup finals before being appointed Director of Rugby.

He was appointed Club President in 2019 and subsequently focused on working with the Past Players to develop the club’s player alumni network, formally launched in 2022 as the 1865 Club.

Hall’s new role as the Chairman of Bath Rugby Heritage has been introduced as the club focuses on bringing forward proposals for the redevelopment of The Rec, following the Supreme Court decision in October 2022 that the 1922 Covenants are not a barrier to redevelopment.

In his role, Hall will look to recruit and manage a team of volunteers to support the stadium project team in bringing to life the club’s rich and proud history as part of the redevelopment, whilst continuing to drive the alumni network through the 1865 Club membership.

Hall said: “There are so many outstanding achievements and great people that have played a part Bath Rugby over the past 158 years, it’s important we take time to reflect, honour and detail our heritage in ways that makes it open and available to all.

“Many have a huge affection for the club both with its role within in the city and the effect it has had on people’s lives. This was evident by the number of former players who were in attendance to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of our Heineken Cup triumph despite the match postponement.

“Exploring our heritage is vital to continue our connection with our past, our present and to enhance our future, and I’m delighted that I can play a part in that.”

Chief Executive Tarquin McDonald added: “The stadium redevelopment is an opportunity to connect everyone, it will also be a catalyst to bring to life the club’s rich history. John is passionate about the club, everyone connected to the club, and their deep roots within the city.
