The Falcons have edged three of the past fives meetings in the West Country but before that, the Blue, Black and White had won seven in a row on home soil, dating back to 2011.

Matt Perry was Bath’s hero on a cold afternoon in November as he scored 19 points in a victory over the Falcons.

The British & Irish Lion scored a try just after half-time after slotting three penalties to turn the match on its head after now Newcastle Head Coach Dave Walder had kicked a penalty and a drop goal.

David Richardson also knocked over three points for the visitors, but it was Perry’s boot who secured victory. First he slotted another three points and then he converted Kevin Maggs’ late finish.

Bath Rugby 36-25 Newcastle Falcons, 2009

Bath moved back into the play-offs with a spring victory over Newcastle.

After Butch James had put the hosts into a 3-0 lead, Tim Visser crossed for a try but James’ boot kept the scoreboard ticking over for Bath until Joe Maddock crossed just before the break.

Newcastle replied Brent Wilson early in the second half and although Andrew Fenby crossed late on, Andy Beattie and Shaun Berne had already secured the points for the Blue, Black and White.

Bath ran in eight tries as they overpowered Newcastle in Director of Rugby Todd Blackadder's first home match in charge.

The hosts were 6-0 up when Falcons wing Vereniki Goneva was shown a yellow card for preventing a touchdown, for which Bath were awarded a penalty try.

Matt Banahan, Semesa Rokoduguni (2), Kahn Fotuali’I, Dave Attwood (2) and Elliott Stooke all crossed the whitewash for the Blue, Black and White before Ally Hogg's late consolation try.
