Brew said: “The feeling is one of disappointment (result against Saracens). We will take some positives from the first half, but we’ve got to focus on perfecting our processes, which will help deliver that performance we know we’re capable of.”

Bath came within a whisker of two first half tries orchestrated by the Welsh flyer, as he went on a 60-metre rampage only to be stopped at the line by fullback Liam Williams. Shortly before the interval, Brew then combined with compatriot Taulupe Faletau to send Kahn Fotuali’i through in the corner. However, a spectacular try-saving tackle from Nick Isiekwe stopped the Samoan as he reached for the line.

“We were inches away from scoring and then it suddenly becomes a different game,” Brew admits. “Fair play to (Nick) Isiekwe, it was a great tackle on Kahn to get him into touch, but it does shows that we can break down some of the best teams. However, it’s those little mistakes and they’re running back down towards our line.

“We realise our strike rate in the opposition 22 is not good enough, so we will use the next 10 days to make the improvements ready for Gloucester. Saracens obviously punished us, so we need to do the same and hopefully everyone see it in the last few games.”

Bath will head to Kingsholm to face West Country rivals Gloucester on 28^th April for the penultimate game of the season, and the 31-year-old believes that the extra week to prepare will prove crucial.

“We know we’re a good team and we believe in ourselves and I think this week will give us a chance to recharge our batteries and get these 10 points and we’ll do everything in our power to do that.

“We’ve take a great deal of pride every time we pull on the jersey and when things don’t go right, it gives you more of a push to succeed. Obviously the season is coming to an end, but we’ve got something special happening here, which will hopefully come to fruition next year.”
