Bath got off to a strong start, hooker John Stewart going over from close range following a rolling maul just two minutes in. Orlando Bailey made it a seven-point score from the tee. [7-0]

Bristol responded immediately, Deago Bailey the scorer. Tom Wilstead was unable to convert, Bath holding onto a two-point lead. [7-5]

The hosts lead was extended just four minutes later through Diego Periel following a set piece situation. Bath had the put-in to the scrum on their own 10-metre line, Tom Carr-Smith spread the ball out to Gabriel Hamer-Webb, the winger approached the defensive line, drawing in two defenders before popping the ball to Periel, the centre going through the gap and under the posts to complete a well worked try. Bailey added the extras. [14-5]

Bristol immediately replied again, going over just a minute later, on the 10^thminute mark for their second score of the match, Winger Zach Kavanagh touched down for the visitors. This time Wilstead was successful with his conversion to reduce the deficit to just two-points again. [14-12]

It took seven minutes until the next score, and it came through Bailey. Individual brilliance from the fly-half to break through the Bristol defence on the 22-metre line and almost effortlessly and go in to score the third try of the game. The fly-half converted his own try and Bath had their nine-point-lead back. [19-12]

Hamer-Webb extended the hosts lead 22 minutes in following a scrum just inside the Bristol 22. Max Ojomoh the first receiver took the ball flat to the Bristol defensive line before popping a clever offload to Bailey behind him. The fly-half spotted Hamer-Webb on the left flank in space, flinging a superb pass out wide and the winger made the rest look easy, going in to score on the left wing. Bailey added two from out wide. [28-12]

An opportunist try followed, three minutes from the interval. Bath were awarded a penalty just outside their own 22, and scrum-half Tom Carr-Smith opted for a quick tap, weaving through the Bristol defence and going in under the sticks for the hosts fifth. Bailey continued his 100% form from the tee. [35-12]

The hosts went over again four minutes into the second half. Attacking deep inside the Bristol half, Bailey distributed the ball to George Worboys and the full-back fired a miss pass out to the wing, finding the hands of Owen Dudman, the winger ran in to score. Bailey converted. [42-12]

Bath kicked on in the second half, going over again three minutes later, Hamer-Webb crossing for his second through a well-executed team try. Bailey routinely slotted another two points. [49-12]

The tries kept coming, and after 43 minutes, replacement Gabriel Goss crossed the whitewash. The try was instigated with some exceptional skill from Ojomoh, the centre chipping over the Bristol defence on half-way, Goss did well to recover the loose ball and ran the length of the half to score. Bailey further extended his sides lead. [56-12]

The replacements continued to make an impact off the bench, Xavier Hastings going in for the hosts next score. Another sensational assist was provided by Ojomoh, breaking the defensive line on half-way and making his way up to the Bristol 22. The centre found Hastings on his shoulder who did well to battle off a defender and touch down in the right corner. Baileys exemplary record continued and Bath took a 51-point lead after 55 minutes. [63-12]

The visitors got a consolation try, as replacement Chris Moseley went over for the score, Bristol were unable to add another two with the conversion. Bath holding onto a comfortable lead heading into the final quarter. [63-12]

Ojomoh was on hand to further extends Bath’s lead, Bailey began the move, sending Dudman through the defence on a sharp attacking line, Dudman drew in the retreating defenders before sending Ojomoh clear, under the uprights. Bailey was on hand to slot the extras. [70-17]

Dudman went over for his second and the final try of the game just before the final whistle blew. Worboys, the first receiver sent the ball out to Periel who had Dudman outside him. The centre popped the ball out to the winger, who showed his turn of pace and went in to score. Bailey converted and the final whistle blew, 77-17 to the hosts, a dominant performance. [77-17]

Ryan Davis added post-match, “We are all very pleased with the performance. We set goals on Monday and today we executed them. There was some great link play between our backs and our forwards but the continuity of our attack once we built pressure was most impressive.

“The bench made a real impact too, giving us another push just after half time allowing us to keep the ball alive and play to space. Overall a great experience for the boys.”
