In Bath Ruby’s first away outing since restart, the Blue, Black and White had the try-bonus point in the bag by half-time, overturning Leister Tigers to secure their ninth win of the Premiership season. Bath Rugby have now narrowed the gap on the top four to just 1 point, sitting in fifth place with 40 points just behind Sale Sharks on 41 points.

The Blue Black and White scored six tries in this thrilling encounter with the old rivals. The forwards shone once again, as Bath Rugby’s driving line-out contined to be unstoppable with two tries coming from the set-piece.

The side began slowly allowing Leicester to pick up a six-point lead after six minutes but as the Blue, Black and White got a feel for the game, scores from Will Stuart, Tom Dunn, Ruaridh McConnochie and Lewis Boyce set up the side nicely for the second period. Johnny McPhillips slotted over the early points for Leicester.

Beno Obano then came on in the second period to make an instant impact with a powerful run to score and this was topped off with a lovely break from Josh Matavesi who sold a dummy pass and offloaded to the oncoming Tom de Glanville, who scored his first Premiership try.

Tigers fought back in the second 40 with scores through Charlie Clare and Luke Wallace, but their scores were only a consolation as the Blue, Black and White secured the win.

KEY MOMENT

Tom de Glanville's score in the second-half was a poignant moment and one to look back on. Josh Matavesi made a fantastic break through the middle of the Leicester defensive line and sold a dummy on his way as he broke towards the Tigers 22. He then offloaded to the young full-back as the 20-year-old went over the whitewash.
