The Blue, Black and White will host the BaaBaas for the first time in the professional era on Sunday 20 November, kick-off 14:00.

This exciting fixture against the iconic side replaces Bath’s Round 26 Gallagher Premiership match against Worcester Warriors scheduled for Saturday 6 May 2023, which is subsequently the date of King Charles III’s coronation. All season tickets, including the 10-Game Season Ticket, and seasonal hospitality are valid for the game.

The Barbarians have previously visited The Rec in 1994 with Club President John Hall and other Bath legends Jon Callard, Mike Catt, Phil de Glanville and Andy Robinson all featuring in a famous 23-18 victory.

“This match presents an incredible opportunity for our supporters to see their club go up against one of the most famous and entertaining sides in rugby, and we are hugely excited to confirm this fixture in November,” Bath Rugby Chief Executive Tarquin McDonald said.

McDonald added: “With our previously scheduled match against Worcester Warriors now cancelled, it was critical we responded quickly to bring top-class opposition to The Rec as a replacement for our supporters.

“Financial pressure is evident across the whole of the Gallagher Premiership and losing our final home match of the campaign would have caused significant loss if not for a swift solution. We are very grateful to the Barbarians for their support in organising the match at short notice. I’m sure our supporters will be equally as excited about the game as are our players and coaches.”

The Barbarians are steeped in history stretching back to its 1890 inception and a plethora of Bath Rugby players have played their part by donning their legendary colours.

Stuart Barnes, Michael Claassens, Graham Dawe, Dave Egerton, Danny Grewcock, Chris Malone, Steve Ojomoh, Jamie Roberts, David Sole and Mike Tindall are among those fortunate to represent the BaaBaas, with 1998 European Cup heroes Adebayo Adebayo, Catt, de Glanville, Jeremy Guscott, Russell Earnshaw, Ieuan Evans, Martin Haag, Hall, Dan Lyle, Nigel Redman, Andy Nicol and Matt Perry also among those deserving of the opportunity.

Current Bath second row Quinn Roux featured for the Barbarians against Tonga in 2017 and could join an illustrious group to have played for and against the invitational side in November.
