A quartet of Bath Rugby Academy players featured in the starting line-up. John Stewart, George Worboys, Orlando Bailey and Ewan Richards all played a part in the impressive victory.

Academy Pathway Coach Ryan Davis said following the game, "There are nothing but positives with regards to these experiences that our players are gaining. To win a tight game against strong international opposition like Ireland, and for our players to contribute to that like they have, continuing their progress as a team in this competition is great for everyone."

Bath Rugby’s Orlando Bailey slotted an early penalty to give his side the lead, before Ireland hit back with three points of their own through to level the score with 15 minutes played. [3-3]

England’s Jude Williams crossed for the first try of the game, collecting a loose ball inside his own half and darting down the left flank, before putting in a clever kick over the top of the Irish fullback and diving over to score. Orlando converted to take England seven in front. [10-3]

Following sustained pressure, Ireland hit back through Oscar Egan, who crashed over with Cosgrave adding the extras. [10-10]

Williams made it a double before the break, as the winger showed his turn of pace on the left wing. The England flyer took advantage of the overlap to score in the corner to put his side back in control on the scoreboard. Bailey sent over the touchline conversion. [17-10]

Half-time – England U18s 17-10 Ireland U18s

Phil Cokanasiga’s line break after the half-time interval to put England further in front. The centre showed great agility to jink through the Irish defence for England’s third of the afternoon. Bailey again added the conversion. [24-10]

With England down to 14 men after Archie Benson was shown a yellow card, Ireland took advantage with Oisin McCormack crossing to reduce arrears to just seven points. [24-17]

Ireland pushed to level the score, but brave England defence saw them hold out for a 24-17 victory and ensure back-to-back wins in the U18 Six Nations Festival.
