Coaches from nine local clubs will take part in the RFU Rugby Ready, Scrum Factory and Level One coaching courses, funded and hosted by Bath Rugby as part of the final celebrations of the Club’s 150^th anniversary.

“We’re really looking forward to working with the coaches from some of our local clubs,” said Bath Rugby Community Manager James Newbigin. “Grassroots rugby is vital to the growth of the game, and we want to help encourage younger players to get into coaching to make sure the legacy continues – the 'Coach the Coaches' programme does just that.”

Coaches from Avonvale, Calne, Culverhaysians, Devizes, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Walcot, Wells and Warminster will take part in the three RFU courses, which focus on different aspects of rugby coaching.

Rugby Ready is designed to educate players and coaches on the importance of being ready for training and playing rugby, so that the game can be played and enjoyed while reducing the risk of serious injury.

The Scrum Factory takes an in-depth look at one of the most complex areas of the game, helping coaches and players to understand the individual and collective techniques involved in scrummaging, as well as position-specific conditioning.

The Level One course is the entry points for coaches of players aged U7 to U12. It provides coaches with the knowledge, skills and attributes essential to developing children’s social, personal, physical and mental skills through the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

The sessions will be held at Bath Rugby’s training headquarters, Farleigh House, and be delivered by RFU Rugby Education Team, with assistance from the Bath Rugby Community team. The Community team will then keep in touch with the coaches throughout the coming seasons to see how they are progressing.
