Community Children take centre stage at The Clash

The Clash was a fantastic occasion for Bath Rugby, with over 60,000 fans at Twickenham treated to a bonus-point win against local rivals Bristol Bears.

Away from the 80 minutes on the pitch, it was the kids of local rugby clubs who took centre stage at the home of England Rugby. Bath Rugby Community team invited over 1000 children from local rugby clubs and school to take part in exclusive experiences throughout the day.

The day started at 10am, with over 400 children from Oldfield RFC, Chippenham RFC, Old Redcliffians RFC, Canterbury RFC and Bath Minis RFC playing on the hallowed turf. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these youngsters and one that they will never forget, with many scoring tries on the biggest stage of them all.

Bath Rugby club championship in association with dyson

On Saturday 13^th April, U14 boys teams and U15 girl teams from Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset attended the preliminary tournament of Dyson 7s. There was some great rugby on show, with over 100 kids having the opportunity to play on the main pitch at The Rec. The finals day will take place ahead of the Bath v Wasps match on Sunday 5^th May, with the final being played at half-time in front of 14,500 Bath fans.

Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, Wimborne RFC, Walcot RFC and Bournemouth RFC are the four U14 boys teams through to the finals day with Warminster RFC, Devizes RFC, Walcot RFC and Dorset & Wilts balling it out in the U15 girls tournament.

Bath Rugby’s Ruaridh McConnochie, an Olympic Rugby Sevens silver medallist, said: “This competition is a great way of recognising the talent we have at grassroots level. Rugby Sevens gave me the grounding in the sport, with experiences and memories which will last a lifetime. I’m sure that those taking part will look back with similar fondness when they get a chance to play at the home of Bath Rugby.”

Easter Camps at Dorchester, Chippenham and The Rec

Nearly 200 children attended the Bath Rugby Community camps over the Easter break, based at Dorchester RFC, Chippenham RFC and the Rec. We hope everybody enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing you all at May half-term camps soon.

A special thanks to Joe Cokanasiga and Rhys Priestland for their help at The Rec camp, staying behind to sign 100 autographs and pose for photos… there were some very happy kids!

Land Rover Cup at Trowbridge RFC

On Sunday 28^th April, 32 teams attended the Land Rover Cup hosted by Trowbridge RFC. It was a fantastic occasion, with the U11 and U12 tournaments being closely contested. A huge thank you to all Clubs for attended the competition and especially Trowbridge RFC, who were incredible hosts once again.

Bath Rugby Prop Will Vaughan presented Chichester RFC with their trophy and winners medals, who were also rewarded with tickets to the Premiership Final at Twickenham on Saturday 1^st June.

Skills Clinics at The Rec

On Tuesday 23^rd and 30^th April, local players were treated to Kicking, Tackling, Passing and Set Piece Masterclass sessions with members of the first-team. The feedback has been great, with young players walking away with lots of great tips to work on over the summer.
