Events were held at Swanage and Wareham RFC, Royal Wootton Bassett RFC and Tor RFC were predominantly aimed at, but not limited to, junior coaches working within the Bath Academy region. There was a broad demographic of people who attended with over 130 Coaches from over 40 clubs and schools taking part.

The sessions covered how rugby coaching has evolved over the years with discussions focused around what player-centred coaching looks like and the theory behind this type of practice. Specific practical coaching processes were also demonstrated for those that attended to be able to use with their own groups of players.

George Tavner, Assistant Academy Manager & Coach Development Officer, commented: “It was brilliant to see a high number of coaches attend from so many different schools and clubs within our catchment area. As a club we are committed to supporting and developing coaches and hope to reap the benefits from these individuals applying what they have learnt into their rugby setting.

"We are fortunate to have a high number of people within our region who are committed to helping young players to develop whilst continuing to enjoy the game. We would also like to express our thanks to the clubs that hosted us for the evenings as well as our part-time coaching staff – Chris Lilley, Matt Lishman, Alex Burns and Andy Hall who helped with the coordination and delivery of the sessions.”
