One hundred seventy-five Bath Rugby appearances and out: Dave Attwood finished his incredible 18-year career at a place that has been a home for him for much of his time in professional rugby.

The 36-year-old was introduced as a second-half replacement to an amazing noise of appreciation, and he repaid the Bath faithful as he so often has by helping the Blue, Black and White to a 61-29 win over Saracens to secure Heineken Champions Cup rugby.

“I was a mess all day!” an emotional Attwood quipped.

“It was a privilege to be on the bench and finish in the way we did… I couldn’t have asked for more.

"It was nice to give the kids one more final run around at The Rec and it’s been an absolute dream for me.”

He continued: “There are not many performances like that you have the privilege to be involved in.

“It was incredible to be involved and the outcome to get the club into the Champions Cup next year, but also the manner in which the guys stuck at it, was really pleasing.

“We’ve been working hard towards that all season and to deliver when it really counted for us means so much.”
