George Ford, Jonathan Joseph (both England) and Taulupe Faletau (Wales) were all in action as Wales hosted England at the Principality Stadium in the second weekend of RBS 6 Nations action. Both sides were looking to maintain their 100% start to the campaign and it was Wales, who were in the ascendancy until the last few minutes of the game. Trailing 16-14 with five minutes to play, Ford combined with Owen Farrell, who set winger Elliot Daly free to give England a last gasp 21-16 victory.

Faletau marked his return from injury playing 27 minutes of the second half for Wales at number eight.

Wales U20 v England U20

England U20 put an end to Wales U20’s Grand Slam defence with a hard-fought 27-31 victory at Eirias Park.

Bath Rugby’s Zach Mercer was a hugely influential figure for England, with the back rower showing his star quality once again. A strong carry by Mercer 10 minutes from the interval saw Gloucester Rugby’s Harry Randall take a quick tap and dive over from close range.

However, it was England’s final try, which proved to be the score of the game. After catching a Wales clearance just over halfway, Mercer evaded two tackles on a storming run down the left wing before offloading to Bath teammate Josh Bayliss, who got England within a metre of the line. Back on his feet, Mercer picked up from the back of the ruck and spun his way over the try line for England’s bonus point try.

Wales Women v England Women

After scoring her first international try for her country last weekend, Bath Rugby’s Caryl Thomas was back in action for Wales against England at Cardiff Arms Park.

However, Thomas and her Welsh teammates were on the wrong side of an impressive performance from England, who scored 11 tries on their way to a 0-63 victory.

A number of Bath Rugby players were on international duty on the second weekend of action in the 6 Nations.
