Bath Rugby First Team regulars Matt Banahan and Tom Biggs are amongst the squad running out at Kingsholm for the final Pool stage of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s series on Thursday night.
There is a wealth of experience in the squad, with both Banahan and Biggs having represented England 7s, and fellow first teamers Guy Mercer and Mark McMillan also selected. Rugby League convert Kyle Eastmond will line up for his first competitive start in Bath colours, with last season's breakthrough winger Olly Woodburn also being named, and up and coming scrum half Chris Cook joining them.
Bath Academy new recruit Ollie Devoto joins fellow Academy players Tom Baldwin, Richard Lane, Will Skuse and James Tyas in completing the squad.
Speaking about the tournament, Biggs said: "Sevens is a fantastic sport and to be honest it's a shame that you can't mix the two because I would love to still get the chance to play it from time to time. And that's why events like the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7's are so important.
"It's going to be an Olympic sport soon enough so it's only going to get more popular and I think that's fantastic.
"It's a great sport in its own right but the skills that it brings to the XV man game can't be discounted either, both in terms of handling the ball but also your fitness. It helps in all areas of the game really and when I went away in 2008 to do a full year on the circuit I came back so much fitter and a better all-round player."
The action kicks-off at 19.30, with Bath's first game against Worcester Warriors at 19.55, before taking on South West rivals Exeter Chiefs and Gloucester Rugby.
The Rec will host the Series Finals on Friday 3rd August, and with London Irish, Saracens, London Welsh and Sale Sharks having booked their places, competition for the last two places will be fierce.
Tickets start at just £10 for adults and £5 for juniors, so book your tickets now via the Bath Rugby Ticket Office on 0844 448 1865 or by clicking here and join us for a fantastic evening of summer rugby.
