Press Notes: Worcester Warriors

8 September 2020

Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper faced the press this afternoon ahead of our Round 19 match against Worcester Warriors at the Rec.

On training with short turnarounds

“Training is limited at the moment due to the time between games, but it has been great to get back at Farleigh after a five pointer against Harlequins. The lads are buzzing and ready to prepare for Worcester tomorrow night. Training has been very short and very sharp but very focussed.”

Focus ahead of Worcester Warriors

“We focus more on ourselves. It is a really important preparation that we believe we have aspects of our game. It’s about what we can do I those areas and of course there is a little bit of tactical appreciation of the opposition with a small amount of time and energy that goes into that aspect.”

Game plan for Worcester test

“It is a very similar team that played down at Exeter Chiefs with a few changes. Ollie Lawrence comes into their backline. They are a team who have a number of threats, they are always very physical at the breakdown. There is a couple of their back-row guys who are very good over the ball and have caused a lot of problems so we will need to be on it there and making sure we don’t give them the opportunities to get their line-out going. They have a very strong maul that they put a lot of players into, so we will be looking to stay clean through that middle third of the field.”
