Underhill heads to Bath Rugby

11 January 2017

Flanker Sam Underhill has joined Bath Rugby on a three-year deal, the Club are delighted to confirm.

One of the most promising and highly-rated young players in the game, 20-year-old Underhill will move to Bath ahead of the 2017/18 season from the Ospreys. The flanker has made over 20 appearances for the Ospreys to date, including a Man of the Match performance against Munster in his first start for the region.

Eligible for England, he captained England U18s in an unbeaten season, which included a victory against South Africa on their own turf.

“I’m really excited to be moving to Bath,” said Underhill. “There is a brilliant environment at the Club, and some very talented players, both of which were a huge incentive in joining for me. They have a world-class coaching set-up, who I know will help me develop into the best player I can possibly be. I’ve enjoyed a really good couple of seasons at Ospreys, and would like to thank everyone who has helped make this move possible, and the fantastic support I’ve received throughout my time in South Wales.”

Todd Blackadder, Director of Rugby at Bath, added: “We’re really looking forward to Sam joining us. We’ve got a really strong contingent of backrows in the squad, and Sam’s addition will boost that even further. He’s a very talented young player, and we can’t wait to see him develop even more over the coming seasons.”
