Trio named for England Under 20 JWC opener

4 June 2013

Promising young Bath Rugby Academy fullback Ollie Devoto and exciting new signings Anthony Watson and David Sisi have all been named in the England Under 20 starting line-up for their opening IRB Junior World Championship clash against France tomorrow, kick-off 17.45.

Harlequins No. 8 Jack Clifford captains the squad and is joined in the back row by Sisi and debutant Matt Hankin (Saracens).

21 members of the match day squad have previous Under 20 experience with Hankin and Tom Smallbone (London Irish) the two uncapped players.

Sam Hill, Henry Slade, Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs), Alec Hepburn, Nathan Moris (London Wasps), Dominic Barrow (Leeds Carnegie), Sisi and Clifford have previous JWC experience, having played in the 2012 tournament in South Africa.

Head coach Nick Walshe said: "It's a massive challenge playing against France, particularly in France, but it's a challenge that we're relishing. We obviously played them in the Six Nations and put in a good performance, but this is a different game – we won't be complacent, we'll be treating them with the respect they deserve.

"The lads have trained well for the first couple of days - they're looking good, but to be honest they just want to get out there and play."

All games will be shown live on Sky Sports HD, with England facing South Africa and the USA later in the pool stages.
