Last Monday there was a double visit made by Bath Rugby, with South African international Michael Claassens and Samoan rugby world cup star Anthony Perenise visiting students in the languages faculty. Read more 

This season the Bath Rugby Foundation continue to deliver a well-recognised Inclusion Project in the South West.  Focusing on children on the SEN (Special Educational Needs) register in mainstream and special schools, the project encourages participation in physical activity at any level, ensuring sessions are adapted to cater for all abilities whilst being fun and challenging. Charlotte Sacco, a member of the Foundation staff at Bath Rugby, has been holding after school dance classes since September with a group of young people from St Gregory’s School.  They have been learning a dance routine choreographed by Charlotte, and today they enjoyed showing what they had learnt at Bath City Farm’s Apple and Pumpkin Day.  Unfortunately, it was pouring with rain and everyone was a bit damp but they were not put off doing this special performance. With the players at the Rec going through their paces at the Captains Run the Community team seized the opportunity to sneak 100 local school children in to Farleigh House to take part in the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools tag festival. Read more 

St Barnabas in Devizes are an Associate School of the Bath Rugby Foundation, which means they are working with the Foundation to inspire young children in a number of their school subjects.  Last term they did Tackling Numbers, which was delivered by Vicky Heslop, Foundation Education Manager, and Jimmy Deane, Foundation Manager.  This involved an hour of maths, which was rugby themed in the classroom, and then they enjoyed an hour of tag rugby outside, which also had maths thrown in!The second project of this association began last Tuesday when two classes totalling 60 children, visited the Recreation Ground for four hours.  Each group spent two hours doing a tour of the ground;  this included viewing the changing rooms, looking at trophies in the clubhouse and visiting the IPL stand.  Bath Rugby’s Community Coach, Caryl Thomas was at Shoscombe Primary School last week delivering Premiership Rugby’s Tackling Numbers programme. Read more 

Today saw the re-introduction of the Bath Rugby and Bath Combination Club initiative, which was successfully launched last year.  22 clubs were present to meet the players  'allocated' to them this season. Read more

Bath Rugby coach the Aviva Tag Rugby Schools programme at Beckington Primary School“Stand Up, sit down,” I heard a voice shouting.  “Roll over, turn around,” it was Bath Rugby’s Community coach, Steve Middleton who was giving a warm up session to the children at Beckington Primary School.  This was the first of six sessions where Steve will be teaching the children the game of tag rugby. In the first three sessions the children are taught the rules, then by the fifth week they are beginning to develop their team skills and by the sixth week they are ready for a  challenge at the Festival.
