“Historically, the UK has always seen a lack of women pursue a career in engineering and design, but at Dyson, we want to challenge this notion and encourage more diversity and inclusion within the sector. We do this by focusing on school children and nurturing their natural curiosity for problem solving. We would like many more women in engineering and hope that the TRY Engineering programme will inspire young students and highlight that engineering is accessible to all.”

“Rugby is a sport for everyone, built on the values of teamwork and inclusivity. The Try Engineering programme will provide hundreds of girls with an introduction to rugby and hopefully inspire the players of tomorrow. It's the first of its kind and something that we hope continues to grow over time, helping facilitate the growth of our game and participation at a grassroots level. We hope the girls' enjoy their experience and choose to continue their rugby journey at their local Club"

CASE STUDIES - INITIAL FEEDBACK RECEIVED

“It was really fun. I want to do mechanical engineering so it was interesting to see how everything fits. I liked taking the vacuum apart and putting it back together"

"The rugby was great fun. Rugby is a really diverse sport and everyone feels welcome so I love how everyone just gets stuck in."

“Without exception, all students really enjoyed the afternoon of activities when they were asked. They all engaged surprisingly well and far more positively than I expected with the engineering class. The ‘hands on’ delivery really helped. Many of the girls had not tried rugby before and yet were keen to continue learning about it. Lunchtime sport has pretty much wholly consisted of playing with rugby balls since the Try Engineering visit.”
