Bath Rugby and Compeed are searching for 30 committed individuals, who want to make some positive changes to their lives, by joining them in the club’s Walking Rugby programme set to launch in June.
The inaugural programme in 2021 was a huge success, with all 30 participants completing the programme and have now set up their very own walking rugby team!
It’s the perfect opportunity to either re-engage with the sport after a period without playing or start something completely new.
After what has been an incredibly difficult time for so many, this organised weekly occurrence will offer the opportunity, for those aged above 45-years-old, to regain and retain their core aerobic fitness.
Walking Rugby is a non-contact version of the game and is particularly well suited to both sexes who are over 45 and wish to stay fit and active.
The eight-week programme will take place on the Rec outfield each and every Friday starting from 10 June (9:30-11:00). To celebrate the successful completion of the activity, the final session will take place on 29 July on the Rec playing pitch; accompanied by a few familiar famous faces.
Compeed, the blister plaster experts, are generously covering all expenses and providing qualified coaches. Therefore, the Walking Rugby programme comes at no expense to those who want to be part of this. All that is asked, is that each participant can commit to the eight-session delivery programme.
Based on a survey of previous participants in the Bath Rugby Walking Rugby programme, 100% gave it a 'good' or 'excellent' rating and said they'd recommend it to a friend.
The Rec (BA2 4DS) which is situated in the heart of the city, can be accessed via Bath Spa train station, local bus networks or private modes of transport. Organised parking will also be made available to the group of 30 Walking Rugby participants.
The number one key focus is to support every attendee so that their overall health and wellbeing improves over the two months. Compeed’s hospitality extends beyond the playing pitches and will provide complimentary teas and coffees after each session so that there is a chance to socialise and further connect with other playing members.
Through utilising the club’s network (both internally and externally) the demand for each of the 30 available spaces is anticipated to be significant.
