Vicky Heslop was out Tackling Numbers this week at St Michael’s School in Twerton.
This six week programme has been re-organised at the school in order to give all the pupils an opportunity to take part, rather than just concentrating on one year group. Vicky has already delivered the programme to Classes 1 and 2 and today she was with Class 3 which was a large group and a mixture of Years 3 and 4. Carole Watts of Class 3 said: “They love it! It is good to have Vicky come back to us too, as she knows all the children. “ (Vicky did her PGCE placement at the school).
The kids were having a great time in the playground. It was freezing cold but they were enjoying the game ‘Stuck in the Mud’ followed by a game of tag. All the children with tags were called ‘fishes’ and those who were catching them, with no tags, were called ‘sharks!’ There were a few falls and tears from trying to escape the ‘sharks’ but these didn’t last long, and they were soon back into the game!
Vicky will be going back next week to do a further session for all the classes.
The Tackling Maths programme is an interactive numeracy programme for young children, developed and delivered by Premiership Rugby in partnership with MBNA.
