On Sunday 29th April 2018 at Trowbridge RFC, Bath Rugby hosted an exciting U11 and U12 grassroots developmental festival, the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup with 650 youngsters taking part.
Now in its tenth year, the series of nationwide events, has seen more than 70,000 children take part to date, from all over the country.
The U12 competition was a fantastic spectacle for those in attendance, with the highly competitive fixtures providing a meaningful platform for youngsters to develop their rugby skills. It was a competition to watch as both sides played impressive rugby, showing great spirit right up until the final whistle.
In the U11 festival all teams displayed fantastic resolve and demonstrating the core values of the game throughout: - teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.
The young players of Olney RFC U12s came through as winners on the day and collected their prize of a trip to Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final. Joining them will be Salisbury RFC U11s who were randomly drawn from all of the teams playing in the U11 Festival, collecting their prize of a trip to the final courtesy of Land Rover.
Participating players at the festival also had the opportunity to meet Bath Rugby players Max Wright, Michael Van Vuuren, Levi Douglas and Jack Wilson who joined the tournament to award all teams their trophies.
“We attended the Bath Rugby Land Rover Cup because the year group above us said it was hands-down, the best event they attended last season. The event organisation was spot on. Thanks from all at Olney RFC”. Steve Grainger, U12s Olney RFC, Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup Winners 2018.
“Thank you so much for a fantastically organised and run competition. All the team thoroughly enjoyed themselves and got a lot out of a great day. All the organisers and refs were brilliant” Mike Batt, Colerne Panthers U12s.
