Bath Rugby and Avon Protection are proud to announce a new multi-year partnership for the 2021/22 season and beyond.
Avon Protection is the world leader in respiratory and ballistic protection and delivers life-critical personal protection systems for militaries and first responders worldwide from their base in Melksham, just outside of Bath. Their remarkable vision to advance protection technologies and protect tactical operators in the most extreme environments spans all continents; however, their commitment to serving their people and supporting their community has always remained local.
This ethos sits at the heart of a successful three-year relationship, where Avon Protection has led the charge in supporting Bath Rugby’s primary school Attacking Math's programme, and why the FTSE 250 innovative technology group has today become an official club partner.
The partnership will see Bath Rugby and Avon Protection expand Attacking Maths to 20 primary schools per year, delivering over 100 sessions of numeracy and tag rugby to Key Stage Two pupils. Avon Protection will also extend their local impact with further investment to protect and grow the women and girls' game through a specialised programme aiding female participation in rugby across Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire.
This will include the launch of new monthly developmental coaching hubs across all three counties as part of the club's move to develop a sustainable player pathway. Targeting 500 girls throughout the season, this provision, which is currently only available to boys, will ultimately drive a more equal future for young female players in the region.
To further represent the strength of the partnership, Bath Rugby will proudly wear Avon Protection’s brand logo on their matchday jerseys, joining a prestigious group of official club partners.
“We are delighted to welcome Avon Protection to the family of Official Partners of our club,” commented Tarquin McDonald, Bath Rugby’s Chief Executive.
“It’s been a privilege working with Paul and his team at Avon Protection over the past three years, learning about the ground-breaking work they are doing at the forefront of such a life critical industry, as well as our shared values of high performance and continuous improvement empowered by teams.
“I feel an immense sense of pride to understand the impact our partnership will have within our local community with the expansion of Attacking Maths and the significant support in strengthening girls’ rugby in our region.”
With over 1,000 employees over seven sites in the U.K. and U.S., Avon Protection’s objective as a major local employer is to work with and for the communities in which they operate. Driven by the beliefs of their people and the causes they and those closest to them value, Avon Protection maintains a culture of continuous improvement empowered by teams who represent their values, ensuring they deliver market-leading service and products.
Paul McDonald, Avon Protection’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are extremely proud to be entering into this partnership with Bath Rugby to both support the team and create lasting change in our region.
"To expand our impact within our community and make a difference to causes that are close to the hearts of our people is truly meaningful. We look forward to the work we’ll be doing with Bath Rugby as an official partner and creating such a positive impact together.”
