Bath City Farm, Time is Precious and the Trauma Recovery Centre have been chosen as Bath Rugby’s local charities for the 2015/16 season.
Each year, we support three local charities who are doing incredible work at the heart of our community. These charities support different groups of people in a variety of ways that differ from the work of our own Bath Rugby Foundation.
To help us choose the three worthy causes to lend our support to this season, we asked our Season Ticket Holders, commercial partners and players and staff to select their top three from a shortlist of 10.
The Trauma Recovery Centre was selected by our Season Ticket Holders, Bath City Farm by our partners, and Time is Precious by the players and staff of the Club.
Not only will we help these charities raise vital funds on a matchday throughout the season, but we also aim to shine a spotlight on them, helping them build awareness of their work and hopefully spreading their message to a wider audience.
Bath City Farm
Bath City Farm is an amazing 37 acre farm in Twerton set-up as a charity in 1995 by local people. At the heart of the Farm’s work is helping people; whether learning new skills, helping to turn their lives around or giving people the chance to meet new people through volunteering. The Farm also plays an important role in connecting people in the city with food and farming. Staff and volunteers run the farm with projects such as “feathered friends” (connecting people in residential care with hens on the farm to help with therapy) and gardening projects.
Time is Precious
We help families and children that live in and surrounding Bath by purchasing equipment and helping to improve facilities and environments in Children’s Hospitals and Wards. We help to create a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for children, which in turn assists with their treatment and recovery. We work alongside hospital specialists who know what is needed, as well as helping distract young patients from traumatic procedures. We aim to make this difficult time a little less stressful for the parents and children involved.
Trauma Recovery Centre (TRC)
The TRC exists to help children recover from trauma; defined as an experience which is overwhelming and hinders the child’s safety and security. At the TRC we facilitate recovery for children and young people as they process trauma, and support them as they piece their lives back together until a wholeness can be found. Children and young people come to the TRC after traumatic experiences, including bereavement, abuse, neglect and domestic violence. At our centre on the Lower Bristol Road we provide therapy, counselling and therapeutic education to help children and young people in our city recover and flourish.
