A host of Bath Rugby stars made their mark on the International stage this weekend, with Joe Cokanasiga, Zach Mercer, Charlie Ewels, Sam Underhill and Francois Louw all running out for their respective countries. Here’s how our international contingent got on when they swapped their Club strip for country colours.
England v Japan
Joe Cokanasiga made a huge impact on his international debut against Japan with an impressive break in the third minute, offloading to England teammate Jamie George to set up the first try of the afternoon in front of a capacity Twickenham crowd. The supporters’ choice for Man of the Match later went on to score England’s third try in their 35-15 victory over Japan, with England Head Coach Eddie Jones singing Cokanasiga’s praises after the final whistle.
Teammates Zach Mercer, Charlie Ewels and Sam Underhill also put in huge efforts to help England come back from a 10-15 deficit at halftime to secure the victory over the visitors. Ewels, who played his first full game for England, was particularly impressive defensively and was a noticeable threat in the lineout.
Scotland v South Africa
Francois Louw was in action for South Africa as they narrowly defeated Scotland 26-20 at Murrayfield. Louw came off the bench in the 66th minute to replace captain Siya Kolisi, and went on to make three carries and a tackle before the final whistle.
Wishing you could see these guys in action? Bath Rugby’s international contingent will be back at Farleigh House and available for selection for next weekend’s home match against Sale Sharks.
Tickets and hospitality are still available for this fixture here, so round up your squad and get behind the boys in Blue, Black and White on Sunday 2nd December, kick-off 15:00.
