Saturday was a special day for Bath Rugby Ladies who ran out at the Rec for the second time this season and ended their campaign on a high with an emphatic victory over Buckingham Swans Ladies.
The occasion will be even more memorable for hooker Hannah Stephens whose mum was in attendance – the first time she had seen her daughter play for a number of years.
“I finally had my mum come up and watch me for the first time in three years!” she said.
“It’s been amazing. Everyone has been supportive; the build-up and everything has been incredible.
“All my friends and family were here, all the girls that I’ve coached… seeing everyone enjoying themselves and seeing how much of an inspiration we are to young girls in this area has been incredible.”
Stephens scored one of 12 tries in a 76-10 scoreline as Bath finished third in the Championship South 1, missing out on a place in the play-offs on points difference.
The front row is confident the team’s work this season will stand them in good stead to go on and achieve great things next term.
“Throughout the season we’ve built and built, we’ve clicked. Everything we’ve done in training has been put down on our matchdays.
“We were unfortunate to miss out on the play-offs but next year is our year!”
