Ford: “This game is a must-win for our season to make sense”

21 May 2014

Having narrowly lost out on a place in the Premiership play-offs, Head Coach Mike Ford is relishing Friday’s Amlin Challenge Cup Final battle against Northampton Saints.

“It is our last game of the season and a culmination of 49 weeks of hard work. It was incredibly disappointing to slip out of the top four having been there all year, but we are going to leave nothing behind on that pitch come full time on Friday night. We need our season to make sense by winning!

“This promises to be a momentous occasion for our young squad. With the vibe, motivation and emotion we need to be composed throughout, think correctly when under pressure, execute well and build the pressure.

“Saints will be going all out for the win; they’ve made four major finals this year which is an achievement not to be sniffed at.”

Ahead of Friday’s game, there is also a timely boost as Springbok star Francois Louw has been passed fit for selection. “Having Francois back for this is important game is fantastic news.

“He is a world-class player and leader who’s refreshed and raring to go. We need that competitiveness at the ruck and Flo provides that for us. Also for guys like Nick Abendanon and Anthony Perenise playing their last games for Club, it gives us that added incentive to give them the best possible send off.

“Our support has been phenomenal this year, both home and away, and I hope we can repay that by becoming European Champions. We can’t wait for Friday and are determined to go out there and end our season on a high with no regrets."

Free Amlin Challenge Cup party at the Rec!

Join us at the Recreation Ground for our Amlin Challenge Cup Final party this Friday, 23rd May, where we will be showing the game live.

We understand the disappointment of our supporters who were unable to secure tickets for the Final against Northampton Saints, and apologise for what is far from an ideal situation. However, we hope as many of you as possible will join us at the Rec to support the boys in Blue, Black and White.

From 18.00, we would like to welcome all supporters to the Swift Half, which will be set-up on the pitch, to cheer the boys on in their hunt for another European title!

Come and enjoy the party atmosphere with our Happy Hour from 18.00-19.00, with pints of Thatchers and Wadworth 6X priced at just £2.50.

The party is completely free, with entry open to all Bath Rugby supporters via the Riverside, William Street and Sports Centre gates.

We will have a great time and, hopefully, will finish the day by celebrating a famous victory for the Club!
