Express delivery from 'The Rock' to Fiji

30 June 2015

On a recent visit to his Fijian homeland, Bath Rugby's Semesa Rokoduguni ensured he arrived bearing gifts. One hundred of them.

The sensational winger hand delivered 100 custom made rugby balls - paid for by John Titcombe Jewellers, his shirt sponsor - to his old rugby club in the village of Nausori, near the capital city of Suva, where he also gave a coaching session.

Limited internet and phone access where Rokoduguni was situated meant getting the good news about his England World Cup training squad call-up last week took a little longer than usual - although he was more than happy to cut his holiday short when the Red Rose came calling. The England international maintains close ties with Fiji, through both family and the several successful rugby sevens teams he has helped establish there.

"It has been a huge privilege to be Roko's sponsor during his time at Bath Rugby," said John Titcombe, who financed the ball delivery. "He has brought such joy and excitement to each game, and he thoroughly deserves his belated call-up to the World Cup squad. I really hope he gets the chance to face up to his old friends from Fiji."
