The J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Cup, organised by Bath Rugby, took place at Prior Park College on Saturday 31st March and was a day full of fast-running, thrilling rugby.
The day was hotly contested between very fit and physical teams from across the region, culminating in a fiercely contested cup final between Dorchester and Sherborne.
Dorchester emerged as the winning team and players were presented with the cup at half time in the Bath Rugby vs. Northampton Saints match by Kane Palma–Newport. Part of the prize for Dorchester is to be invited to attend the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s Series Final 2012.
The J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Cup is a prestigious 7s festival for under 14s at grassroots clubs, taking place at the 12 Premiership Rugby clubs in 2011 and 2012. It is the first time that the Premiership Rugby clubs have been involved in hosting junior 7s festivals and is giving valuable experience of the 7s game to youngsters, helping in their rugby development and working towards developing the stars of the future.
A special thank you to the tournament referee's, Paul Box and John Healey from the Somerset Referee's Society for volunteering their time to this tournament, both kept the rugby flowing and the spirit of the game as it should be.
Thanks also to host venue Prior Park College, Bath, one of the largest independent, co-educational, Catholic, boarding and day schools in the UK. Situated overlooking the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath, Prior Park College was the ideal venue for a great day of 7's rugby.
