Richards starts as five involved in England U20 v France U20

28 June 2022

Ewan Richards has been named in the second row for England Under-20s’ match against France in Round 2 of the Six Nations Under-20 Summer Series in Italy.

The Bath Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year will earn his ninth cap at Under-20 level after impressing for Alan Dickens’ side against South Africa last time out.

A further four Academy players are involved in the squad with Under-18 graduate Sam Harris in line for his Under-20s debut.

Hooker John Stewart scored from the back of a rolling maul v the Junior Springboks with Ethan Staddon and Tom Carr-Smith also featuring.

The game will take place at the Payanini Centre, Verona, at 4pm BST on Wednesday 29 June.

Head Coach Dickens said: “Taking the positives from our game against South Africa has been important as we prepare for tomorrow’s game.

“The three tries from Stewart, Ilione and Oresanya were pleasing and to perform against France, who had a strong start against Ireland in the first round, we need to keep focus on our set piece and maintain our discipline.

“The players have been training hard and are looking forward to facing France in round two.”

Every game of the Under 20 Summer Series will be streamed via the Six Nations Rugby U20 YouTube channel.
