Bath Rugby U18 team to take on Bristol

20 December 2017

Bath Rugby U18s get their season underway this afternoon against Bristol Rugby at Bristol Grammar School Playing Fields, kick-off 13:30.

Will Butt captains the side from outside centre, partnering Max Ojomoh in the midfield. Oran McNulty and Luke Mehson start out wide on the wings, with Oli Hobman at fullback. Tom de Glanville is named at fly-half, combining with Ben Mead in the half-backs.

Up front, Sam Elrick packs down at hooker with George Bamsey and Si Elrick either side of him, whilst Chris Moore and Tom Jeanes lock down together. Ayden Chenoweth and Henry Povoas are named on the flanks as Nahum Merrigan completes the scrum at number eight.

Academy U18 Coach, Ryan Davis, who will fulfil the role of Lead Coach for this year’s tournament, supported by Mark Lilley and Andy Rock, is excited about the beginning of the competition.

“We’re looking forward to getting the U18 campaign underway and have already been preparing well in training,” he said.

“We recognise that the other Academies will challenge us and as part of our aim to develop players and enhance their learning, we are also planning to promote involvement from a few of our younger U16 boys.

“A small number of our more experienced players recently had an opportunity within the Premiership Rugby A League competition and we will be looking to this group of players to really step up and take a lead within the group.”
