Two Bath Rugby Academy players have been named in an England Under-20s side to play Oxford University on Saturday (14:00 kick-off).
Tom Carr-Smith has been named at scrum-half while Jasper Spandler is set for his first experience at Under-20s level at hooker.
To give the all the players an opportunity on the field, teams for each half at the Oxford University Sports Ground have been selected by head coach Alan Dickens with Blue, Black and White duo Carr-Smith and Spandler involved in the opening 40.
Ewan Richards and John Stewart would have been involved in the match but both have travelled with the Bath senior squad for the Heineken Champions Cup fixture against Stade Rochelais.
“We are delighted that Jasper and Tom have been given the chance to start this game,” Academy Manager Craig Lilley said.
“Both players have worked hard for this opportunity with Jasper battling through rehab and Tom playing most of his rugby in the BUCS League for University of Bath this season.
“I am sure John Stewart and Ewan Richards would be pushing to get into this squad as well, and with Ethan Staddon making good progress with his recovery from his knee injury, it is fantastic to see a number of our players pushing for representative honours.”
