Travel information

Bath Rugby aims to ensure that all of our supporters have the best time possible at the Rec, and we recognise that travel is often a big part of the experience.

We want you to know that we are constantly reviewing how best to direct our supporters to travel to and from the Rec, and that we will continue to do all we can to minimise hassle on matchdays.

Top Tips:

  • Leave early! We know this is often easier said than done but, where possible, we urge you to arrive early and avoid the rush. There is plenty to eat, drink and do pre-match, so it will not be time wasted.
  • Car share where possible. As we know, parking is very limited in Bath, so click here to join BlaBlaCar car share scheme and link up with other supporters either offering or requiring a lift to the ground. And yes, it’s also a good opportunity to feel good about ourselves for helping the environment!
  • Use public transport. We are fortunate to be conveniently positioned for Park & Ride, local and regional bus services and First Great Western. We urge you to ditch the car and hop on the train.
  • Stick around longer. What better way to ease congestion and avoid the throngs than to stick around at the Rec for a while longer post-match?  We assure you a great atmosphere and entertainment.
  • Cycle to the Rec! Keep fit, dodge the traffic, park securely at the sports centre (we will soon have our own bike racks for you) and walk through to the Rec.

Helpful links and other information:

By rail

Bath Spa station, which is just a five minute walk from the Recreation Ground, is connected to London and the South West by Intercity services. Bath also has direct rail links to Cardiff, Salisbury and Southampton. Regular services to Bristol Temple Meads connect with services to Birmingham and the Midlands. National Rail enquiries: 08457 48 49 50 or visit National Rail.

By car

The M4 motorway joins Bath to London in the East and Wales in the West. The M5 links the city with the Midlands to the North, with Somerset, Devon and Cornwall to the South. Bath is best accessed from J18 of the M4. Please use Bath's Park & Ride facilities wherever possible. There are several Council run Park & Ride sites serving Bath City Centre which is just a few minutes walk from The Recreation Ground. Please note that, as these facilities are not run by Bath Rugby, we can accept no responsibility for them or information relating to them. See available Park & Ride services or parking details for in and around Bath.

To Bath city centre

Follow directions to Lambridge Park & Ride but then continue on the A4. Now follow the map provided and use the parking located around the city centre. Please note that an access system has been implemented which restricts access through the centre itself. Parking is at a premium and is not readily available at busy periods. Please be considerate and do not obstruct public driveways as this naturally alienates residents, thank you.

By bus

The Recreation Ground is a five minute walk from Bath's main bus terminal and local services stop even closer to the ground. See details of the local bus services in and around Bath.

By coach

Regular National Express services operate between most major towns and cities in Britain. For further information contact either the Bath Bus Station on 01225 464446 or National Express direct on 08705 80 80 80.
