Guy Mercer

Promoted from the Bath Rugby Academy to first squad for the 2011/12 season, flanker Guy Mercer is a player quickly rising through the ranks at Bath Rugby.

A hard hitting, physical player, Guy quickly adapted to life in the top flight of rugby last season, making six starts and eight appearances off the bench for the Bath Rugby First team.

A sign of his ability, he was chosen by broadcasters ESPN as their Man of the Match for the Aviva Premiership Rugby match against London Wasps last November - an impressive feat at the best of times considering the calibre of players on the pitch during that game, even more so when taken into account that it was his first Premiership start.

Playing alongside a host of international forwards would faze most young players into silence, however Guy relishes the challenge and experience of playing alongside the likes of Lewis Moody and Simon Taylor, and uses the opportunity to learn as much as he can to develop his own game.
