Academy structure

Nominations

Players are nominated by their schools, clubs, county coaches or scouted by academy staff. Players are also selected from the both the Somerset and Dorset & Wilts "Schools of Rugby" programmes and each counties age group representative squads.

Bath Rugby England Academy Players

This group of players consists of between 10 - 20 individuals who either train full time at Bath Rugby or combine their training with their University study. Their training programme will focus on core skills and game awareness. It will also include physiology, sports psychology, nutrition and personal development.

Bath Rugby Academy University Scholars

This group consists of up to 12 players who train part time with Bath Rugby and full time with University of Bath high performance rugby squad. Their playing programme will involve them in Bath "A League" fixtures as well as representing the university, playing in the BUCSA league. Players from this group can progress to be full time Bath Rugby England Academy Players.

Elite Player Development Group (EPDG) 14 - 18 year olds

Gold Group (14 - 18yrs Old)

This group of up to 12 young players will be invited to train full time at Bath Rugby during their school holidays. During term time they are visited at their schools or clubs by Bath Rugby Academy staff on a weekly basis.

It is the goal of all Gold group players to one day graduate into the Bath Rugby England Academy group.

Silver Group (14 - 18yrs Old)

 This group of up to 15 - 20 young players will be invited to train for two full weeks at Bath Rugby during their school summer holidays. During term time they will meet together as a group twice a month for coaching sessions by Bath Academy staff at a variety of venues throughout our designated region.

Bronze group (14 - 16yrs Old)

This group of up to 35 young players will be invited to train for two full weeks at Bath Rugby during their school summer holidays. During term time they will meet together as a group twice a month for coaching sessions by Bath Academy staff at a variety of venues throughout our designated region.
