Bath Rugby loosehead prop Paul James will start for Wales against Tonga on Friday night at the Millennium Stadium (k.o. 19:30).
James has appeared for Wales in both of their Autumn Series matches so far, coming off the bench in the loss to South Africa and the victory against Argentina, and will win his 48th cap against the Pacific Island nation.
He has been a crucial component in the Bath pack's success this season, and starts in a new-look Welsh front row with hooker Ken Owens and tighthead Rhodri Jones.
"There is a fair bit of experience amongst the changes," says Wales forwards coach McBryde. "We're aware we need to rotate the squad between now and the World Cup to see how the players react to international rugby. We've got to be on our guard. Anyone who saw Tonga's game with France at the weekend knows how much of a threat they can be."
