New signing charges into 7s squad

Bath Rugby are delighted to announce that Samoan back-row Alafoti Fa'osiliva has joined the Club.

Most recently at Bristol Rugby, Fa'osiliva has made his name representing the Samoa Sevens team, and was part of the 2009-10 IRB Sevens World Series championship winning squad. Following on from their victory, Fa'osiliva was nomainated for the 2010 IRB International Sevens Player of the Year.

And Bath supporters won't have long to wait to see their latest signing in action, as he will line up for his new side on Thursday night as the 2013/14 season gets underway with the first round of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management 7s Series at Kingsholm.

A classic West Country derby kicks-off the tournament, with Bath taking on hosts and age-old rivals Gloucester Rugby.

Fa'osiliva takes his place in a youthful but exciting Bath squad. Junior World Championship winning England U20s duo Ollie Devoto and Anthony Watson will provide attacking guile and pace to burn in the backs. Scrum-half Chris Cook adds tenacity and speed of delivery at the breakdown, with Nick Koster adding a dose of power and speed in the forwards.

Whilst young, centre and University Scholar Ollie Evans has plenty of 7s experience having featured widely on the UK 7s circuit and was on standby for the GB Students 7s squad at the recent World University Games.

Also featuring are Bath University players Freddie Clarke and Ludi Hopkinson and current Bath Rugby Academy members Max Clark and Max Northcote-Green – who joins the Academy having spent a year out playing with the Sydney Uni Colts in Australia.

The squad is completed by two guest players - current Army stars – winger Raymond Bishop and fly-half Tuvita Tamatawale.

Speaking upon his arrival, Alafoti said: "I'm really excited to be coming to Bath, and can't wait to get started with the 7s on Thursday. It's a great form of the game, and one I'm obviously quite familiar with, so it's a perfect way for me to get my Bath career underway."
