Gilbert up for Community Player of the Season

Mat Gilbert is one of six inspirational rugby players to have been shortlisted for the prestigious Aviva Community Player of the Season award, after making an outstanding contribution to the community this season.

The sextet from five different Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs will discover who has won this important award at the sold out Aviva Premiership Rugby Awards on 15th May at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

They have made the shortlist after making an exceptional contribution to a number of local and national projects with all six going above and beyond the call of duty in supporting these causes.

"Premiership Rugby's community work is lucky to be supported by over 600 professional players across our clubs, who look to enthuse and inspire communities while acting as fantastic role models to young local people.

From that huge group, these six have emerged following exceptional seasons off the field to make it on to this shortlist," said Premiership Rugby's Community and CSR Director, Wayne Morris.

"We are very proud of our Community Programmes and of the efforts from all of the players involved. Picking the winner will be very difficult as they have all produced compelling cases."

The full shortlist is:

Jamie George - Saracens
Mat Gilbert - Bath Rugby
Dylan Hartley - Northampton Saints
Dean Schofield - Worcester Warriors
Tane Tu'ipulotu - Newcastle Falcons
Dom Waldouck- Northampton Saints
